At least once, everyone has wondered what it would be like to have a special ability. Sometimes we dream of superhero powers, flying, super strength, etc. but other times we imagine what it would be like to have a truly useful power. If we could see the future would we try to stop terrible things from happening or would we look for ways to profit from it? If we were telekinetic, would we use our powers to help people, as in pushing them out of the way of a speeding car and save their life, or would we break the door off the bank vault and move the cash outside into our waiting car? If we could place our thoughts in someone else’s head, would we use our powers for good or evil? Nick Gant (Chris Evans) faces questions like that every day. He is a pusher, a telekinetic, who uses his powers to try to cheat at gambling, typically winning only another beating. However this all changed when a young girl named Cassie (Dakota Fanning) shows up at his door with a toothbrush, a note book, and a plan. Cassie is a watcher; she sees the future, and like every other person with special abilities, she is hunted and monitored by the Division, a government agency that wants to turn people like her and Nick into super weapons. She knows how to bring them down but every plan she has ends with the same outcome, she and Nick both dead. Henry Carver (Djimon Hounsou) is the leader of the Division and he plans on making that future their reality. When Kira (Camilla Belle), Nick’s old flame, escapes from the Division, it will take all their abilities to keep her safe and keep them alive. Read full article. |

Principal photography has kicked off in Puerto Rico on The Losers, the latest comic book adaptation to jump from the page to the big screen. The DC Comics’ based story is being helmed by Sylvain White and stars the ensemble cast of The Watchmen’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoë Saldana of Star Trek, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Holt McCallany, Óscar Jaenada and Jason Patric. Warner describes the film adaptation as an explosive tale of double cross and revenge that centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team—Clay (Morgan), Jensen (Evans), Roque (Elba), Pooch (Short) and Cougar (Jaenada)—find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max (Patric). Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they’re joined by the mysterious Aisha (Saldana), a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war. The Losers screenplay was penned by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), with producing duties belonging to Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman. Look for The Losers will make their way into theaters in April, 2010. [Source] |
