Chris Evans Doesn’t Expect To Return For ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot, Looks Forward To ‘Dark, Edgy’ Tone
Sep 29 2009

With prominent roles in the “Fantastic Four” films, “The Losers,” and Edgar Wright’s upcoming adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s “Scott Pilgrim” series, Chris Evans has quickly established himself as one of the more comics-friendly actors in the biz these days. However, with the lackluster performance of 2007’s “Fantastic Four 2,” the studio recently opted to go the reboot route for the next film about Marvel’s first family of superheroes.

So, the question now becomes: Will we see Evans reprise his pitch-perfect performance as Johnny Storm?

“I don’t think I’m going to be involved in it,” Evans told Cinematical. “I would imagine a reboot would be—a reboot!”

While Evans added that he’d still consider a return to the role if the opportunity arose, the actor, the rumors of a “darker” tone for future “Fantastic Four” projects prompted him to weigh in on that possibility, too.  Read full article.

Chris Evans Talks Fantastic Four Reboot
Sep 29 2009
Posted by staff // Categories: Chris News

Two weeks ago, it was revealed that 20th Century Fox has begun overhauling the “Fantastic Four” movie franchise. Akiva Goldsman will produce the reboot and Michael Green will write the script. Variety said in their report that because the deals for the reboot are just getting made, it was unclear if any of the original cast would return.

SuperHeroHype.com caught up with Chris Evans, who played Johnny Storm/Human Torch in the first two films, on the set of The Losers, the adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic book in which he plays Jensen. He was positive about the announcement.

“I think it’s great. I’m sure it’ll be a great movie,” Evans said. “They do that with a lot of movies. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later. ‘Batman,’ ‘Superman,’ ‘Incredible Hulk.’ Sometimes it’s a 10-year gap, sometimes it’s five years, sometimes it’s 20 years. I think there’s room to read just the tone in ‘Fantastic Four’ as it was for ‘Batman. You know, ‘Batman’ took on a very cartoony feel towards the end and even in the beginning. It was a lighter movie, even though it was Tim Burton. It was still a lighter film and the newer Batman’s have just been amazing, so I’m all for good filmmaking. If they can go make a good dark edgy ‘Fantastic Four,’ right on.”  Read full article.

Constantly clothed Chris Evans hopes new ‘Fantastic’ is fantastic
Sep 29 2009

There is no doubt that “Fantastic Four” launched Chris Evans’ career — and when I say “Fantastic Four,” I mean his abs, arms and chest, which were constantly on display throughout both blah films. So when he launched the “no more shirtless” campaign earlier this year, it was a fair guess that Chris wouldn’t be involved with the skin-tastic relaunch of the superhero franchise.

But now that guess has become a certainty. “I don’t think I’m going to be involved in it. I would imagine a reboot would be — a reboot! I think they’re going to start from scratch,” he told Cinematical . So while I completely champion the idea of rejiggering the series in an Alba-free way, I feel safe agreeing with my bud JA that Chris was the best thing about both movies, so his loss sucks in more ways than one.

And although Chris admits it will be weird to see another actor slip into (or out of) Johnny Storm’s clothes, he’s also looking forward to it. “Let’s not confuse weird with negative. I welcome the new franchise. I hope it’s fantastic.”

Do you think he regretted saying “fantastic” the seoncd it left his lips? [Source]

Chris Evans welcomes Fantastic Four reboot
Sep 29 2009
Posted by staff // Categories: Chris News

IT WAS recently revealed that studio bosses at 20th Century Fox are pressing ahead with a reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise based on the Marvel Comics superhero team.

And Chris Evans, who played Johnny Storm aka the highly flammable Human Torch in the previous two movies, is all for it. He also says he’d gladly reprise his role if a good director is involved.

Evans told Latino Review: “I welcome the new franchise; I hope it’s fantastic. I like good movies. I’m sure Michael Keaton felt the same way. I’m sure Christopher Reeves felt the same way. If it’s a great movie, let’s make it, let’s get it out there. There aren’t enough of them.

“I don’t think I’m going to be involved with it. I think they’re going to start from scratch. If there’s room to reinvent a franchise in a different tone and they can make a good film out of it then so be it. I have nothing negative to say about it.”  Read full article.

Evans on FF reboot
Sep 29 2009
Posted by staff // Categories: Chris News

I still can’t believe they’re doing another FANTASTIC FOUR movie. It’s like the dueling HULK’s. Give it a few more years…that’s all I’m saying. I got a chance to ask Chris Evans about his feelings on the subject. He was gracious, of course, but I’m going to say it for him. Don’t do it. Too soon! Anyway, here’s what he said about whether or not he’s going to be involved.

“I don’t think I’m going to be involved with it. I’d imagine the reboot, it would be a reboot. I think they’re going to start from scratch. And that’s the way those movies…it seems like sometimes they happen quicker than others, you know. BATMAN, there was a big chunk of time, but the new BATMAN movies are fantastic. SUPERMAN, you know, THE INCREDIBLE HULK — sometimes there’s a big gap and sometimes there’s a small gap. If there’s room to reinvent a franchise in a different tone and they can make a good film out of it, then so be it. I have nothing negative to say about it.”   Read full article.
