Slapping on some knee pads and having a stretch, Chris Evans got ready to do a Parkour-style stunt – scampering up the side of a building for an action-packed scene in “The Losers.”

“I said, “Okay can the stuntman just show me what he’s doing just once,” says the 28-year-old actor, on the phone from Los Angeles. “And the stuntman just scaled up this building.”

With that, Evans made his move.

“I said, “Okay I’ll be in my trailer, good luck guys,” the actor says with a laugh. “I don’t know who the hell I thought I was thinking I could touch my toes a few times and go out there and scale a building.”

He’ll have to get used to it. In “The Losers,” opening Friday, Evans plays a wise-cracking computer expert who is part of a special ops unit that ends up being framed for a horrendous attack.

And before he can catch his breath, Evans will next don the star-spangled costume of Captain America, having beaten a legion of other Hollywood hunks to land the high-profile super hero franchise.  Read full article.

Despite the title of his latest movie, The Losers, Chris Evans is no loser. Far from it, in fact. The actor, who first gained some heat with Not Another Teen Movie (2001), got red hot with his role as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in Fantastic Four and its sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer. And it’s just been made official that he’ll star as Steve Rogers/Captain America in Marvel’s next big comic-book-based film, The First Avenger: Captain America.

However, the story of the moment is The Losers, based on a lesser known comic of the same title. He co-stars in the April 23 release as Jensen, one of several CIA operatives double-crossed and left for dead in Bolivia. Most definitely not dead, the group (which also includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Columbus Short and Oscar Jaenada) gets an assist from a lethal beauty (Zoe Saldana) and sets about restoring their reputations and giving the shadowy villain (Jason Patric) a taste of his own medicine. We recently caught up with Evans for the following exclusive interview, in which he discussed his current and upcoming projects, as well as the impact of burgeoning superstardom on his life and career.

The Losers is loaded with stunts and explosions and gunfights. What were some of the craziest moments in film for you?

There’s a pretty big explosion towards the end of the movie. Now I’ve seen a lot of explosions on sets before, but this was by far the biggest set stunt explosion that I’ve ever seen, and we were pretty close. The proximity was only about 30, 40 yards away. That was a pretty crazy day on set, to just see these giant cargo crates blasted 50, 60 feet into the air, and literally being so close that the heat could burn your skin. That was pretty crazy. Fans of the Marvel comic book character Captain America will want to make sure that they don’t miss the new Marvel film Iron Man 2, opening on May 7th, as something long associated with the hero makes a brief appearance. In fact, the character’s equipment actually had similar cameos in the first Iron Man film and in a deleted scene from The Incredible Hulk, proving that Marvel has been planning for some time to bring the character’s adventures to the big screen. It was recently announced that actor Chris Evans would be donning the red, white and blue costume of the WWII hero, first in Joe Johnston’s Captain America: The First Avenger and later in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Earlier this year, Chris Evans won the title role in “The First Avenger: Captain America,” after an extensive casting search.

And while some fans have complained about his unfamiliarity with the character, Evans seems to have a firm grasp on Captain America’s place in the Marvel pantheon.

“It is a big responsibility,” stated Evans during an interview with Screen Star. “I’m a little scared, to be honest. I’d be lying if I said anything else, and I have no problem being honest about that. It’s intimidating. It’s a big responsibility and you want to do your best work.”

“It was a challenging process for me, trying to decide whether or not to do it,” continued Evans. “I came down on the side of going for it because I really think Marvel is doing some great things these days, the script is great and it’s going to be a fun character to play. He’s a wonderful character, just as a man, aside from the comic hero background. If it was just a story about the man, Steve Rogers, I’d be really interested. He’s an incredibly noble, honest, selfless man, and those are qualities that I think people can aspire to and look up to.”  Read full article.
